Good stuff. I can't help but think John Petrucci with this riff.

Incredible tone outta that 7-string!(right?) Do you mic up amps or use VSTs? If you mic I'm guessing you have an isolation box...

Right when I think my recording quality is acceptable....I listen to something of yours and get depressed! XD

RobSoundtrack responds:

WOW thats a big compliment!!

So I'm using a 7string for the rhythms and thats it.
Call me old school, but I keep coming back to mic'ing up amps.
No isolation box. Just a 11'x11' spare bedroom with carpet floor, and a close-mic'ing technique.

Haha thanks so much man; I'm flattered but truly dont utilize some of that pro gear!! Just makin' it work as best as i can! =]

It sounds more funky than jazzy to me. Nice bassline, I love the wah guitar that kicks in a 0:40. It ends a bit abruptly, but I don't know if you were going for more of a loop. For the short piece it is, its somewhat interesting. I could definitely see it being used for a flash game or movie.

Cyberdevil responds:

Thanks. Most of my tracks are meant to be used for Flash creations. With people now making real music here rather than just resources the track definition seems to have changed a bit, but this is a track in the traditional sense, it doesn't loop. :) Glad you liked it though!

Not normally my kind of music, but this song actually has very interesting lyrics. This has definitely a more of an old school rap feel. I prefer this to new rap most definitely, as I can actually understand it! I dunno that is my opinion. Anyway! I like your voice its very suited for this type of music, and you put great emotion into the song. The production here isn't horrible, but you definitely could benefit from a condenser mic on the vocal side. I noticed a bit of clipping on some of vocal bits. That is just nitpicking though. Good mix and good song.

Nice Job.

Cyberdevil responds:

Yeah, the recording quality is a bit lacking. If I ever do get a new mic I'll really dive into my musical strains. Thanks for the review!

Good to find another guitarist on Newgrounds amidst the flood of techno stuff. Great clean playing and composition. You deserve more listens. It never ceases to amazing me that some stuff on here(AKA crap) gets so many views and stuff like this is unheard.

Forgive my randomness rant. ANYWAY.

Great tone. I use Line 6 stuff(I use the old Gearbox) for my tones too, I have not found anything easier/better yet. However, I think you could benefit from adding some more guitar layers. Maybe that is just me? Anyways I fanned your page, keep it up.

0ZeroDL responds:

Hey thanks a lot for the critique. I'm still experimenting with every recording for a good layered guitar tone. Right now I'm triple tracking the rhythm part and I might stick with that. I just find that it starts to sound pretty messy when I quad track.

Best cover of this song ever. You play it better than Metallica in some parts.

Extar responds:

I don't really think that's true, but yeah, glad you enjoyed it.

Pretty nice bro! You just need some bass....

JDawg00100 responds:

Yeah I need a bass guitar badly. I actually used a bass vst for this song so it doesn't stand out very well. Thanks for the listen :D

Interesting. Your composition skills are quite good, I felt everything had a really nice flow to it. Its sort of aerie and creepy at the beginning and has a cool ambient sound. Production could be better, but it isn't too bad at all! My first track certainly didn't sound this good. I think the cymbals are a bit too loud though and they could benefit from some compression.

But overall, Good work! Nice use of real instruments too! You don't see that very often with virtual instruments nowadays.

However, I think you may benefit from trying a different DAW. Audacity is good for free, but you have so much more power in a full featured DAW. I use Reaper DAW, They have a great free trial. Check it out.

DaAtheno responds:

I am glad you enjoyed it! I agree that you don't hear much in the way of real instruments here on NG. It is a little too synthetic in my opinion. Probably half of what's made here was composed in fruity loops (although I still enjoy it).

Also thanks for the suggestion with the DAW, I will try reaper out at some point and look around for what else is available.

Wow I just stumbled upon this. Its fantastic lyrically, and the guitar playing is awesome. Reminds me of a Metallica song....and I mean that in a compliment. Great little song! I will stay tuned for more from you! Good stuff!

guitarmandan responds:

Megamann! Thank you so much for the compliments! I'll definitely be posting more material! CHEERS! \m/

I swear everything you touch is amazing. This sounds a lot Zero's theme from Megaman X4. You could write music for Capcom, and Everyone would be better off.

Everything here is great. I think you need some more bass in the mix though. That is really all it needs. Perfect performance! Your a fantastic player, and by looking at your older tracks....It seems your just getting better and better all the time.

NeXsard responds:

woa, thank you very much for the support dude

This is my favorite song on Newgrounds. The production could be a bit better, but the performance of all the instruments and vocals are totally there.

Shanath responds:

I'm glad you enjoyed it! Everyone involved in this project worked pretty hard at it so I'm glad it paid off.

I'm a guitar player and wanna-be audio engineer. I love recording and playing music. Check out my songs here on newgrounds.
